Getting Back to Your Memoir
Over the years I have worked on several books for clients right on schedule, but when working on those of my own family I always get hung up. Sometimes we get too close to the project and just need put it on the shelf. That's fine ... as long as you get back to it!
Here are some tips for you to help get back to your memoir project.
1. Remember why. Think about the reasons you were writing it in the first place. This will help re-motivate you to get the job done.
2. Organize it. Take some time to find the files, print them all out, and arrange into a 3-ring binder.
3. Read it. Since it's been some time since you last read it, you will now be reading it from the point of view of a reader -- rather than the author. You will see with fresh eyes things you missed before, whether they be important stories, a change in story order, or other changes.
